Vladimir I. Mordachev - System Ecology of Cellular Communications

The monograph is devoted to the problems of system analysis and environmental safety of cellular communications in the case of its widespread use, including the situation in which the external electromagnetic-field background produced by electromagnetic radiation of radio transmitters of broadcasting, radar, and other services is present.

The work contains a review of energy criteria for environmental threat of electromagnetic fields and a survey of electromagnetic radiation characteristics of the subscriber and base-station equipment of cellular communications, wireless access, RFID, and other advanced and emerging telecommunication systems.

Theoretical questions concerning the formation and analysis of features of probabilistic and statistical properties of the electromagnetic environment in a spatially-distributed complexes of wireless systems are stated. Applied problems involving the analysis of the influence of a cellular network's system characteristics (AC power control, quality of frequency and spatial planning, the degree of randomness of network topology, radio-frequency resource allocated for the network, etc.) on its environmental friendliness are considered. The monograph contains an explanation of the methodology and results of systematic analysis of the ecological hazard of electromagnetic-field background produced by means of information service of society in the case of mass distribution of mobile communications.

Illustrative material and tabular data describing the electromagnetic safety of mobile communications in different conditions, as well as examples of calculations of the total intensity of electromagnetic fields from subscriber and base stations in a variety of typical situations are given. The main principles of the system ecology and system hierarchy of conditions and opportunities for environmental safety of mobile radio communications are stated.

The book focuses on the engineering and scientific staff of radio industry, communications, and health service, as well as on graduate students, master students, postgraduates and doctoral students, and academic staff of radio engineering specialties.
